Amritsar, historically also known as Ramdaspur is a city in north-western part of India. It is spiritual center for the Sikh religion and the administrative headquarters of the Amritsar district in the state of Punjab.

It is home to Harmandir Sahib (referred to as the "Golden Temple" in the western media), the spiritual and cultural center for the Sikh religion. This important Sikh shrine attracts more visitors than the Taj Mahal with more than 10,000 visitors on week days alone and is the most popular destination for Non-resident Indian (NRI) in the whole of world. The city also houses the Sikh temporal and political authority, Akal Takht, as well as Sikh Parliament.

The main commercial activities include tourism, carpets and fabrics, handicrafts, service trades and light engineering. The city is known for its rich cuisine and culture and for the tragic incident of Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919 under British rule. Amritsar is home to Central Khalsa Orphanage, which was once a home to Udham Singh, a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement.

First Day : Chandigarh :
Arrive Chandigarh Railway station/Airport. On arrival meet and greet by our representative who will take you to hotel. Start your city tour with Rock Garden which is made of industrial and urban waste. Then visit Sukhna Lake that lies in foothills of shivalik range. People visit here for picnic and for the water activities. In the evening enjoy here shopping in sector 17 market. Back to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Chandigarh.

In the morning, visit Rose Garden which is Asia's largest garden. It contains more than 17000 species of plants and over 16000 varities of roses. Rose Garden also hosts annual rose festival or festival of garden in the month of February or March. After that visit Museum and art garllery, a place that houses magnificant Gandhara period stone sculpture, Hindu sculpture, Miniature Paintings, Decorative arts and coins. The credit for the wonderful designing of this museum goes to Le Corbusier.

Afternoon drive 230 kms 5 hrs to Amritsar from Chandigarh. In the evening check in at hotel. Rest of the time at your leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.

In the morning, start your city tour with the blessings of Golden Temple the most important sikh shrine which is also known as Macca of Sikhs. It is a living symbol of tradition of the sikhs. Then visit Jallianwala Bagh where British and Gurkha soldiers opened fire on an unarmed forbidden gathering and killed hundreds of civillians. After lunch visit Inod-Pak border just 30 kms from Amritsar where the daily highlights the evening "Beating the Retreat" ceremony. Soldiers from both countries march in perfect drill, going through the steps of bringing down their respective national flags. As the sun goes down, nationalistic fervour rises and lights are switched on marking the end of the day. Return to hotel.

Early in the morning transfer Amritsar to Chandigarh. Our representative will transfer you to Railway station/Airport for final departure.
